Travertine features frequent, naturally occurring holes and veins that are prone to collecting dirt.  We find the light coloured travertine needs to be professionally cleaned frequently to avoid looking mouldy or dirty.

Honing or polishing travertine

Travertine can be honed or polished to achieve a particular finish. Honing produces a matte finish, while polishing creates a glossy finish. Honing travertine will hide imperfections, such as scratches and dirt, whereas polishing will reflect the light and therefore show imperfections.
